The metro fibre provider’s needs

Wyre is a provider neutral / open access fibre carrier, with millions of homes on network.

Like all good fibre networks they want to test and validate every single connection, however doing this the “old way” would take more than a year for even the most surface level validation. The most essential validation check in this context would be length matching (ensuring that the trace length matches the expected length) as this indicates if a fibre has been misspliced, or broken during the initial deployment.

Our Solution

Our platform, enables the provider to automatically validate and monitor their entire network, localising faults instantly.

Using our cable compare feature, they were able to validate that each fibre in the cable was within tollerances and

Massively reducing the OpEx related to validating their fibre network, while enabling real-time monitoring and alerting though integrations with their robotised cabinets, optical test heads, and GIS platform.

The metro fibre provider’s needs

This metro fibre provider had installed multiple new long-haul multifibre cables between major cities in Romania. They needed to validate every splice of every fibre in each cable, and compare them with each other to ensure that they were consistent in quality and that there were no faults.

Following the initial deployment they want to continuously monitor the cables with a “Monitor fibre” to ensure that they know about the location and nature of any faults before support calls come in. Allowing them to send an engineering team out to make repairs as quickly as possible if someone dug up the road without checking what was buried under it.

Our Solution

Our platform, enables the provider to automatically validate and monitor their entire network, localising faults instantly.

Using our cable compare feature, they were able to validate that each fibre in the cable was within tolerances and similar to the others (ensuring that there were no missed or crossed splices.

With our alerting system in place their fibre test heads periodically measure the “Monitor fibres” and trigger webhooks into their support systems the moment an fault is detected.

Massively reducing the OpEx related to validating their fibre network, while enabling real-time monitoring and alerting.
